Our Commitment
Garvock House Hotel is committed to operating in a responsible and sustainable manner that reduces our impact on the environment, supports the local community, and enhances the experience of our guests. This policy supports our participation working towards VisitScotland Green Tourism Bronze Award and reflects our intention to continually improve our environmental performance.


Energy Efficiency

We monitor energy usage and aim to reduce consumption year on year.
Energy-efficient lighting is used throughout the hotel where possible.
Heating systems are maintained regularly to ensure efficient operation.
Staff are trained to switch off lights and equipment when not in use.
Guests are encouraged to help us save energy by turning off lights and TVs when leaving their rooms.

Water Conservation

Water usage is monitored and leaks are reported and repaired promptly.
Towels and bed linen are changed on request or at appropriate intervals to reduce unnecessary laundering.
Guests are encouraged to reuse towels during their stay.
Staff are trained to use water efficiently in housekeeping, kitchen, and laundry operations.

Waste Reduction & Recycling

We aim to reduce waste by purchasing responsibly and avoiding unnecessary packaging.
Recycling facilities are provided for paper, cardboard, glass, plastics, and food waste where available.
Staff are trained in waste separation and disposal procedures.
Food waste is minimised through portion control, menu planning, and stock management.

Sustainable Purchasing

We give preference to local and Scottish suppliers where possible, reducing food miles and supporting the local economy.
Environmentally friendly cleaning products are used wherever practical.
We consider durability, repairability, and environmental credentials when purchasing equipment and furnishings.

Community and Cultural Responsibility

We support local businesses, attractions, and events.
Local information is promoted to guests to encourage exploration of Dunfermline and Fife.
We aim to provide a welcoming, inclusive environment for guests and staff alike.
